Innocence Index

Each listed person here was wrongly convicted of a crime for which they demonstrate that they had no role.

Case status: "public" or "state"

We classify each innocence claim as either 'public' or 'state'. Each "state" case has been picked up by the DA office of that case's jurisdiction. Each "public" case remains in the domain of public discretion to either properly respect the identified innocent or to slip into complicity of "innocence offending".

What is "innocence offending"?

Innocence offending is when anyone treats a wrongly convicted innocent person as if they are guilty, such as abridging their rights under color of law because of their false status as a 'felon'. An 'innocence offender' refers to anyone who mistreats the wrongly convicted innocent person as if they are guilty.
